They have only one ambition. Winning the MeBike World Championship of dream bicycles at Mediamatic in Amsterdam...
Noordkaaps dreamteam: ROEL & JOHANNES & GERT
MeBike celebrates the bicycle in all its clean and cool glory. Various teams will build their own dream bike from scratch and race against each other. On Friday, the teams will be introduced. Expect live music, performances and fireworks.
Saturday, starts at 11am.
The teams will crack down and get to work on their dream bikes. Their process will be documented by a television crew. There will be performances, and plenty of bands and djs to keep you busy. Relax and hang out on and around our indoor bike track, and cheer on the MeBike teams.
The evening program starts at 6pm. You can watch the MeBike world championship of dream bicycles. Listen to live music from Half-Way Station, Supercity and The Missing Slippers. Milena Heussler will give a fashion performance. After that Girls on Bikes, showing legging fashion designed by different artists. Festivities continue with music from Adrian Falk vs. MC Up + DJ Down, drinks, and at midnight Subbacultcha! will open their After Midnight exhibition. Hounds of Hate are over from London to play some "out there, free synth music,” and Strange Boutique will be spinning some records.
Sur Place
Sur Place is coming to end. The exhibition on urban bike culture attracted dare devils, housewives, cool kids and creatures, bicycle fanatics and gear collectors. Mediamatic Bank shows the traces of two months of racing, collecting and sharing of thoughts and ideas.

Prismare heeft TETEM productie gevraagd hiervoor kunstopdrachten uit te schrijven. Het verzamelpunt van de feestelijke presentatie op 25 mei om 17.00 uur is Prismare Lounge, gevolgd door een rondleiding langs de kunstwerken.

Archiprix, de jaarlijkse wedstrijd voor de beste afstudeerplannen van Nederland komt dit jaar naar de wijk Roombeek in Enschede. De hogere Nederlandse ontwerpopleidingen op het gebied van de architectuur, stedenbouw en landschapsarchitectuur maken een selectie van de plannen die voor de Archiprix worden ingezonden. De centrale Archiprix-jury beoordeelt de geselecteerde plannen en presenteert deze in een publicatie en een reizende tentoonstelling. TETEM productie is gevraagd een bijdrage te leveren aan de organisatie rondom het dagprogramma, de prijsuitreiking en de tentoonstelling.

Why we Fly, Why we Die is het kunstwerk van Stadtimkerei Finger waar momenteel het volk van Fortbijen in verblijft. Het kunstwerk is een onderdeel van de tentoonstelling Dolly, over groen en duurzaamheid.
Het volk is inmiddels zo groot geworden dat het tijd is om te gaan 'zwermen'. De bijenkoningin neemt dan een deel van het volk mee naar een nieuwe plek. Interessant stukje op onze website hier over!

12 t/m 22 mei 2011 Twente Biënnale is een nieuw evenement met een uitdagend en spraakmakend programma van hedendaagse kunst. Meer dan 50 getalenteerde kunstenaars tonen hun werk in de Creatieve Fabriek in Hengelo. De Twente Biënnale gaat over maatschappelijke actualiteit uit de periode na 9/11 en de huidige cultuur van de alles overheersende massamedia. Met werk van Banksy, Damien Hirst, Jan Cremer, Atelier Van Lieshout, Rob Scholte, Marc Bijl en vele anderen. TETEM kunstruimte presenteert een mini-view van 'Chilling effects' en vooraankondiging van 'The Artery Show'.

Cultuurpolitiek en Kunstbeleid
Zijlstra's bezuinigingsplannen wijken flink af van het advies van de Raad voor Cultuur. Dit zeggen bronnen in de kunstwereld, meldt De Volkskrant. De productiehuizen in de theatersector worden opgeheven. De sectorinstituten raken taken kwijt. Het Theater Instituut Nederland dreigt te verdwijnen. Het Mondriaan Fonds voor beeldende kunst levert meer dan eenderde in. Het Fonds voor Cultuurparticipatie fuseert met het Fonds Podiumkunsten. In drie of vier steden verdwijnen orkesten. Maastricht vreest onevenredig hard getroffen te worden door de rijksbezuinigingen op cultuur. Dat zegt cultuurwethouder Jacques Costongs.“Wanneer we de aangekondigde plannen van Zijlstra doorrekenen, dan wordt er in Maastricht geen 26% bezuinigd zoals landelijk, maar krijgen wij te maken met een korting tot 75%. Dat is een extreem verschil met de kortingen in andere delen van het land en betekent een forse kaalslag in het totale culturele veld.” De Raad voor Cultuur heeft een advies uitgebracht, waarin de door het kabinet gewenste bezuinigingen gehaald werden zonder afbreuk te doen aan het fijnmazig cultureel netwerk via de stedelijke kernpunten, waar Maastricht er één van is. Maastricht steunt het advies van de Raad. Maar de staatssecretaris heeft laten weten dit advies niet over te nemen en vast te houden aan zijn eigen oorspronkelijke plannen. Die zal hij publiceren in zijn Beleidsbrief, die 10 juni openbaar wordt.

Theaterproducent Joop van den Ende heeft harde kritiek op 'de krankzinnige bezuinigingen' van het kabinet op cultuur. Hij wil dat de overheid 100 miljoen euro investeert in een nationaal fonds om daarmee internationaal toonaangevende tentoonstellingen te kunnen financieren. De investering zou de overheid 650 miljoen euro opleveren. Van den Ende zal zijn plan over 2 weken aan premier Mark Rutte voorleggen. Volgens de theaterproducent levert het 3,4 miljoen extra cultuurtoeristen op, die gemiddeld 388 euro per persoon uitgeven. Op 19 mei hield hij de Mandeville Lezing in Rotterdam, ter gelegenheid van het ‘maatschappelijke eredoctoraat’ van de Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam. Hij riep vermogende Nederlanders op om geld te steken in cultuur.

De Nederlandse filmproducenten vragen staatssecretaris Zijlsta (Cultuur) om de filmsector te ontzien bij de komende bezuinigingsronde. Dat houdt in dat de staat principieel geen oordelen uitspreekt over de inhoud van kunsten en wetenschappen en evenmin de richting bepaalt waarin kunst- en wetenschapsbeoefening zich moeten ontwikkelen. In het kader van de huidige bezuinigingen op kunst en cultuur maak ik mij dan ook niet zozeer zorgen om de bezuinigen zelf, omdat dit soort maatregelen in tijden van recessie van maatschappelijk belang en veelal van tijdelijke aard zullen zijn.

Debat over de (opnieuw te bepalen) verhoudingen tussen publiek en makers/culturele instellingen. Is het publiek verantwoordelijk voor het culturele aanbod – en zo ja, welke initiatieven kunnen er worden ontplooid om burgers hun favoriete kunstprojecten te laten ondersteunen? Een panel van gedreven cultuurliefhebbers, makers, wetenschappers, ‘mecenassen’ en andere betrokkenen buigt zich over deze vragen.

Coalitiepartij VVD wil dat er een speciale loterij komt die geheel ten goede komt aan de cultuursector. Dat bevestigt Kamerlid Bart de Liefde naar aanleiding van een bericht in het AD. Volgens De Liefde kan een loterij de aangekondigde bezuinigingen in de cultuursector voor een groot gedeelte opvangen. De opbrengst van de loterij zou direct naar orkesten, musea en andere instellingen moeten gaan die onder druk staan.

De Raad voor Cultuur stelt in zijn recente advies dat er sprake is van een zoektocht naar een nieuwe legitimering voor de overheidssteun aan kunst en cultuur. Volgens de Raad is er sprake van legitimering daarvoor als een kunstenaar of kunstinstelling heeft bewezen een publiek voor zijn product te kunnen interesseren. Die legitimering gaat op voor alle kunsten: er is altijd wel een publiek.

Vandaag werd bekend gemaakt dat verschillende Rijkscultuurfondsen het initiatief voor de ontwikkeling van een landelijke website voor ‘crowdfunding’ op zich zullen nemen. Deze website zal gebruikt worden als platform om projecten uit de kunst-, de cultuur- en de creatieve sector aan het publiek, ofwel de ‘crowd’ te presenteren. Op deze manier hopen zowel professionals als amateurs financiële steun van een groot publiek te kunnen werven om zo hun project te kunnen verwezenlijken.

De Raad voor Cultuur heeft haar eigen visie op de geplande bezuinigingsronde in de cultuursector gepresenteerd aan Staatssecretaris van Cultuur Halbe Zijlstra. Uit het rapport blijkt dat het adviesorgaan het op een aantal punten oneens is met de plannen van Zijlstra: de bezuinigingen zouden gefaseerd in moeten gaan, de cultuurkaart voor jongeren kan behouden blijven en de geplande BTW-verhoging op podiumkunsten staat volgens de Raad haaks op de wens van het kabinet om het culturele ondernemerschap te stimuleren.

Leeuwarden - In de kunstwereld is dit weekend geschokt gereageerd op de voorstellen die de Raad voor Cultuur vrijdag deed voor bezuinigingen op cultuur. De Raad kwam met de voorstellen op verzoek van staatssecretaris Zijlstra. Het kabinet wil vanaf 2013 tweehonderd miljoen euro bezuinigen op kunst en cultuur. De Raad heeft bekeken hoe die bezuinigingen het beste kunnen worden uitgevoerd.

Bijna eenderde minder subsidie voor beeldende kunsten en het orkestenbestel, ruim een kwart minder voor de podiumkunsten, de musea, de bibliotheken, de letteren en film. De Raad voor Cultuur adviseert staatssecretaris Halbe Zijlstra van Cultuur de bezuinigingen op deze manier te verdelen.
De gevolgen zijn zeer ernstig volgens de Raad: kaartjes zullen eenvijfde of meer duurder worden, drieduizend banen gaan verloren, zes orkesten moeten drastisch inkrimpen, de productie van Nederlandse films zal met 30 procent verminderen. Om grote schade te voorkomen, moet er volgens de raad een overgangsperiode komen.
