Presentatie-instellingen zijn niet gericht op verzamelen of verkopen van kunst, maar concentreren zich voornamelijk op de productie en presentatie ervan.

Gisteravond was in KiK de finissage die door verlenging van de tentoonstelling tot 17 juni werd omgedoopt in midisage. In een duister KiK werd de presentatie van AiR periode van Daniele Sambo geopend en werd het eerste exemplaar van het boek WHEN THE NIGHT FALLS… uitgereikt aan Dik Bouwhuis. Dik Bouwhuis heeft KiK fantastisch geadviseerd bij het samenstelln van de tentoonstelling en bij het ontwikkelen van het basisidee van het boek.Karina Dimitriu die het boek heeft vormgegeven en die samen met mij de redactie heeft gedaan werd ook even in het 'maantje' gezet .

At this event DDV will give shape to the program. With Club Moral (DDV and AMVK) and possibly other invented brothers &/or sisters a performative political art sceance will be manifested. One of the performances is part of a trilogy.
The first part, 'Prelude to a Motorcycle Accident' was performed on 6 May 2012 at the 'Never Say When - 30 Years of Broken Flag' festival in London.
The second part, ' The Fatal Motorcycle Bumper Pull Up of Ho Chi Minh and Joey Ramone as if composed by Charles Ives' took place iin the exhibition Mistress of the Horizon of Anne-Mie Van Kerckhoven at Mu.ZEE, Ostend, Belgium.
The third part will be performed this day at DE PLAYER.
In a YouTube movie you can see how the events of 6 May 1943, 1992, 1915, 1895, 1949 and 1862 led to the prelude in 2012 to the motorcycle accidents of Andreas Baader, Marlene Dietrich, Orson Welles, Rudolph Valentino, Maurice Maeterlinck and Henry David Thoreau in London.

Helaas is de topsecret usb stick van her-berg, één van de acht genomineerden, buiten mededinging gesteld omdat het ontwerp door her-berg al te koop wordt aangeboden. Eén van de voorwaarden van de Wrap wedstrijd is dat het ontwerp nog niet in productie is genomen. Helaas vervalt hiermee de nominatie van de topsecret usb stick. De vakjury heeft voor de vrijgekomen plek in de lijst met nominaties de KNAPZAK! van Marije den Dekker geselecteerd. Haar ontwerp is toegevoegd aan het album met nominaties op onze Facebookpagina. Het harde werken van de afgelopen periode is afgelopen maandag 20 februari beloond. De KOP carnavalswagen gemaakt door Willem Claassen reed mee in de Grote optocht. De Kielegatters* werden tijdens de 5 uur durende optocht getrakteerd op de pracht en praal van 86 verschillende groepen en verenigingen. En wij zijn blij dat we daar bij hoorden. Wat ons betreft: voor herhaling vatbaar!
Ook in Curacao heeft Yasser Ballemans afgelopen dinsdag meegedaan in de optocht met zijn project Inside Out. Binnenkort hier meer over.

Named after German composer-musicologist Dieter Schnebel’s music theatre piece Maulwerker (for Organs of Speech and Reproduction Tools, 1968-1974), the German group Maulwerker has distinguished itself in the areas of interdisciplinary music theatre & the performance arts since its founding in 1977. The group is particularly adept at isolating, deconstructing and extending the various aspects of the human voice. In particular, it is their method of utilizing this in a musical & theatrical setting that leads to an interesting symbiosis of effective classicism (DROOM) and conceptual punk (DAAD).
This performance which was developed especially for Operadagen 2012, presents Maulwerker with 4 collaborators (Ariane Jessulat, Henrik Kairies, Christian Kesten, Steffi Weismann) who reveal the source of speech and song to give the audience the opportunity to redefine these basic elements for themselves.
More and more musicologists and musicans are becoming aware that a significant number of developments in contemporary music cannot be understood without considering the influence of the work of the German composer Dieter Schnebel (1930). Maulwerker is an extremely detailed analysis of the range of human vocals and, at the same time, the most complete artistic research into vocal communication ever written, a veritable explosion of sound, image and emotion, a virtuoso utilization of basic vocal articulations. By using the technique of deconstructing the musical language, Dieter Schnebel has been able to develop a universal language, which is contrary to all attempts at intellectual construction. The work is particularly demanding for the performers but, at the same time, remains very accessible to a general audience.

Finissage
De tentoonstelling en de AiR van Daniele Sambo wordt op zaterdag 26 mei afgesloten met een finissage, na zonsondergang in een onverlicht KiK. De bezoekers worden verzocht om een zaklantaarn mee te nemen om de werken van WHEN THE NIGHT FALLS…….. te kunnen opsporen en bekijken.
DJ Moonshine draait 'zwarte muziek' van schellak; blues en gospel uit de eerste helft van de vorige eeuw.
Boekpresentatie
Er komt een boek over de tentoonstelling.
Tijdens de opening wordt het boek met de gelijknamige titel, WHEN THE NIGHT FALLS… gepresenteerd. Het boek wordt vormgegeven door Karina Dimitriu.

Opening
Op zondag 22 april vond onder brede belangstelling de opening plaats.
Kunstenaar/fotograaf Korrie Besems leidde een kunstenaarsgesprek met de in KiK residerende kunstenaar/fotograaf Daniele Sambo en enkele mede-exposanten. Fotograaf/onderzoeker Wim Schmidt vertelde over zijn werk in nachtelijk Nederland en over de gevolgen van steeds meer kunstmatige verlichting van de openbare ruimte.

Is it possible to track, follow, and make transparent the flow of capital in the contemporary art world? What are the ethical frameworks of operation in the behind-the-scenes of various institutions, biennales, Documentas, and art fairs, and how are they shaped and informed by the crisis now? Can we draw conclusions on what is being produced, in which context it is being produced, and on what becomes visible and what remains disguised? What is the distinct role of the market-both historical, current, and future- in all of this, and how is our perception influenced, directed and created by the “power-players” in the art world as well as the decisions of politicians?
